CSP Magizine Reports Pudgies C'Store as Coming Up Ace's
Pudgie's & Aces & Eights General Store, which opened its doors two years ago, was built not by a petroleum marketer or former convenience-store executive, but by a family that has more than 40 years invested in the foodservice industry with a pizza chain called Pudgie’s. Foodservice is undeniably Aces & Eights’ biggest strength and top priority. “Our purpose is foodservice. The fuel is only another convenience for our customers,” says David Cleary, vice president of MP Cleary Inc., Elmira, N.Y., the holding company of which Aces & Eights is a part. He estimates that at least 50% of sales comefrom foodservice, and indeed half of the 4,000- square-foot c-store is ded- icated to a Pudgie’s Pizza & Subs, a proprietary pizza concept founded by Cleary’s father in 1963
